Terms and Conditions
Effective October 26, 2026
The short version: use the site and our free software sensibly and at your own risk. Paid work is governed by the written scope and quote we agree with you. These terms fill in anything that scope doesn't cover.
Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms apply to gridlantis.org, the software you download from it, and the services we offer through it. The site is run by Gridlantis LLC, a Michigan limited liability company ("Gridlantis", "we", "us"). By using the site or downloading our software, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them. Questions can go to Gridlantis@gmail.com.
Using the site
You agree not to:
- use the site for anything unlawful;
- try to break, overload or get unauthorized access to the site or the systems behind it;
- scrape, copy or republish large parts of the site without our permission;
- send spam, malware or false information through our contact form.
We may change, pause or remove any part of the site at any time.
Our content
The text, design, logos, images and code on this site belong to Gridlantis or to the people who licensed them to us. You're welcome to read, share links to and quote small parts of the site. Anything beyond that needs our written permission. Names and logos of other products we mention, such as Slack, Discord or Telegram, belong to their owners and don't mean those companies endorse us.
Software you download
Some of our software, including Virtual Labs, is free to download. Unless the download comes with its own license, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use it on your own devices, for personal or business purposes. You may not sell it, or pass off a modified copy as ours.
- It's provided as is. Our software runs other tools on your computer, such as QEMU, Docker and VNC, and can create, change and delete virtual disks and containers. Back up anything you care about. You're responsible for how you use it and for the systems you connect to with it.
- Builds may be unsigned. Your operating system may warn you before opening them. Check each download against the published checksums, and only download from gridlantis.org or the links on it.
- Third-party tools have their own terms. Tools our software relies on, and anything you run inside it, including operating system images, are covered by their own licenses, which you're responsible for following.
- Only connect to devices you're allowed to. Use device connections and network scanning only on networks and computers you own or have permission to access.
Services and paid work
When you hire us to build a website, bot, dashboard or anything else, we'll agree on a written scope and quote before work starts. That written agreement controls the work. If it conflicts with these terms, the written agreement wins. Unless it says otherwise:
- Prices on the site are a starting point. Figures marked with a "+" or described as typical are guides. The price you pay is the one in your written quote, and it only changes if the scope changes in writing.
- Payment. Fixed builds are billed 50% up front and 50% on handover. Monthly plans are billed in advance each month.
- Canceling. Care plans can be canceled at any time and run to the end of the month you've paid for. Support retainers need 30 days' notice. If you end a fixed build early, you pay for the work done up to that point, and the up-front payment may count toward it.
- Ownership. Once you've paid in full, you own the work we built for you, and its source files and accounts are transferred to you. We may reuse general know-how, and any of our own tools or code we've built before, and we may describe the project in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.
- Fixes. Anything that's broken on delivery, compared to the agreed scope, we'll fix at no cost during the fix period in your quote. New features or changes after that are quoted separately or covered by a plan.
- Third-party platforms. Bots and integrations depend on services like Slack, Discord, Telegram, Twitch and Stripe. We can't control changes those services make to their rules, pricing or APIs, or outages on their side. You're responsible for following their terms and for any fees they charge you.
- Your materials. You confirm you have the right to give us any content, logos, data or account access you send us for a project.
Links to other sites
The site links to services we don't run, such as GitHub, where our downloads are hosted. We're not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.
Privacy
How we handle the information you send us is explained in our Privacy Policy.
No warranty
The site and our free software are provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that they will be error-free, secure, always available or fit for a particular purpose. Information on the site is general and may be out of date.
Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, Gridlantis isn't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits or business, arising from your use of the site, our software or our services. For paid work, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for that work in the 12 months before the claim. For the site and our free software, it's limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because you broke these terms or the law, or because of materials you gave us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States. If there's a problem, please email us first and we'll try to sort it out informally. Any dispute we can't resolve will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you and we both agree to their jurisdiction.
General
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still apply. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. You can't transfer your rights under these terms without our agreement.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. Changes don't affect a written agreement already in place for paid work, unless we both agree.
